Cookie Ingredients:
- Butter: 1 ½ cups (3 sticks) (Full) — 3/4 cup (1.5 sticks) (Half)
- Sugar: 2 cups (Full) — 1 cup (Half)
- Eggs: 4 (Full) — 2 (Half)
- Vanilla Extract: 1 teaspoon (Full) — 1/2 teaspoon (Half)
- All-Purpose Flour: 5 cups (Full) — 2 1/2 cups (Half)
- Baking Soda: 2 teaspoons (Full) — 1 teaspoon (Half)
- Salt (if not using unsalted butter): 1 teaspoon (Full) — 1/2 teaspoon (Half)
Directions:
Step 1: Make the Dough
- In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until smooth.
- Beat in eggs and vanilla.
- Stir in flour, baking soda, and salt until well combined.
- Cover the dough and chill for at least 1 hour or overnight.
Step 2: Prepare to Bake
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Roll out dough on a floured surface to 1/4 to 1/2 inch thickness.
- Cut into shapes using your favorite cookie cutters.
- Place cookies 1 inch apart on ungreased cookie sheets.
Step 3: Bake
- Bake for 6 to 8 minutes in the preheated oven until edges are lightly golden.
- Cool cookies completely on a wire rack.
