Exterior Garage Makeover

The garage is very old and was possibly a carriage house that housed the family horse and carriage. The main house was build in 1896 and the garage looks like it is from about the same time. There is an old chimney that was used to heat the space. It really isn't in the best shape and since it was never covered in any new siding I decided to have fun with it. New color and added detail. I know it is not historically accurate but the details can be removed if anyone wanted to revert it.

This finished product. I freehanded the design and it looks pretty good.

It has been 30 years since I painted it and it this is long overdue. Power washed and primed.
Only needed a gallon of primer. I used a roller and a brush to get any bare wood.

Almost black dark purple. I bought the most a gallon Satin Latex DUTCH BOY Exterior Paint.

Freehanded some trim detail with leftover PVC trim. I sketched this design on a scrap pvc 1x4 I had just for fun.

Got a little carried away and did the underside of the windows and use some scraps for the upper door. I just used some latex caulk to attach everything.

Power wash and prime the front. Also took down an old basketball hoop.

After. It was very sketchy trying to paint that peak with my crappy ladder. Need to add some detail on this side to go with the other side.

Once I figured the layout I just use a compass to draw all the half circles. Then I used a jigsaw free hand cut them out. Use the jigsaw on the finials as well. Don't look too close

100% done. From a distance it looks really good. It is 200 foot driveway from the street to the garage.
